George henry Roemer

George’s story begins among rolling fields and red barns. As a boy, he helped milk cows before dawn, listened to milk cans clank on the creamery rail, and learned that the smallest chore can carry the biggest lesson.

After college, he joined the Peace Corps and spent years in western Kenya, where he visited thousands of small farms and shared practical tips. He married overseas, learned a new language, and saw how simple ideas—like planting better grass—can reshape a community’s future.

Later, George took his skills to Afghanistan with USAID, advising farmers in remote provinces and capturing his experiences in reports and letters. His time there gave him a front‑row seat to both hardship and hope, which he recounts with honesty and warmth.

When George’s granddaughter arrived, he felt a rush to pass on everything he’d learned. Out From Rubicon is the result—a heartfelt collection of memories meant to guide and encourage the next generation. His friendly tone and clear‑spoken style make you feel as if you’re sharing a cup of coffee with him in his kitchen.

Dive into his world, meet the man behind the pages, and see why Out From Rubicon feels like a conversation with your own grandfather.
